Capital Exchange General Information Meeting ( Summary & Review)

Second Life- SL Capex

This past Sunday, March 6, at around 5pm SLT  Mr.Skip Oceanlane the Chief Executive Officer of Capex called its first public meeting open to all traders and users of the exchange in an unprecedented act to actively reach out to the community.  The agenda for the meeting consisted of :

1) Introduction- Mr. Oceanlane went over his background in Second Life and how though even after being scammed like many other traders he still believed in the potential a properly run exchange had.

2) Exchange Purchase in January – Why?

After the brief introduction the conversation moved towards the purchase of the exchange in January 15th and how Mr.Oceanlane wanted to introduce a new concept for stock simulation in the virtual world and get rid of all the flaws in the system ,which allows for a higher chance of fraud, through implementation of new rules and regulations. The basic and most important outcome of this new changes was to bring back the confidence in the exchange and give it a much more formal air.  He also discussed that he, Hamncheese Omlet and Scott Nestler were the only ones with access to the exchange’s accounts in order to keep the security as tight as possible and reduce any chances of fraud.

3) Transfer Companies in February

Mr.Oceanlane then shared with all the gathered investors that he was doing a great deal to revive the exchange and bring new companies on board that had previously been listed in an exchange but not any longer such as OIG and OMG. In addition to that CAR and FAG were also suggested as possibilities for the future depending on whether the CEO’S were interested.
4) Some Basic Exchange Rules

The meeting then moved on to a great outline of some rules that were being worked out in order to improve the overall trading experience such as requiring quarterly financial reports , suggested monthly reports and encouraging the CEO participation with their shareholders.

5) Proposed for the Future

Finally Mr.Oceanlane shared with everyone a vision for the future and the things to come. One of the biggest planned improvements will be a new set of graphs, charts, and diagrams to improve the trading experience and making statistical information easier to understand.  This great new step is currently being developed by Hamncheese Omlet , one of the best programmers in Second Life, and will be sure to a breakthrough from what traders are used to. Another exciting feature announced was the planned released in the future of a Capex marketplace in order to compete with the SL Market Place, something that without a doubt will prove to be a great source of revenue for the exchange and attract hundreds of new users.

Review & Closing Comments of  The Meeting:

I would like first to say that unfortunately I wasn’t at the meeting and that this report is entirely based on the meeting minutes posted on the Capital Exchange website. That say I believe the meeting was a commendable action on part of Mr.Skip Oceanlane and it did a great deal to set up the beginning of a new era. The openess and willingness to engage the public on part of the exchange management showed that a transparent exchange that cares about motivated its traders by keeping them on board is possible and its not a thing to be dreamed off like many of us who have been in Second Life a while may think.  Many ideas were introduced in a clear fashion and managed to sens a solid message of sustainable growth plans and reforms to ensure the safety of all users of the exchange.  If all those things talked about in the meeting reach completion there is no doubt that we will see a renaissance in Second Life investing and probably reach the good old days when volumes where high and profits were plenty.

I would like to encourage all the readers of our summary to check out the full transcript of the meeting in order to have a full idea of all the wonderful projects that are on the works and you can do so by using the link below.
